Overview

Vaughan Constructions has completed Woolworths Group’s first automated Customer Fulfilment Centre (CFC) in Auburn, NSW.
 
Officially opened in May 2025, the 22,000m² facility is set to transform the shopping and delivery experience, boosting Woolworths' online order capacity in Western Sydney by 50%.

Outcome

The CFC features advanced picking and storage systems developed by automation specialist KNAPP and is capable of processing up to 60,000 online orders each week. With over 450 KNAPP Evo Shuttles operating across all temperature zones, the centre significantly reduces manual handling while improving operational efficiency.
 
Whilst the CFC is a high-tech facility, it has a human-centric focus with approximately 600 staff.

The facility also includes Woolworths’ largest Direct-to-Boot area to date, with 16 dedicated bays enabling convenient customer collection directly from the site.
 
Key areas comprise full bakery, deli and seafood production areas, cool rooms with storage at 2 degrees and 12 degrees as well as a freezer set at -24 degrees. There are five inbound docks, 26 outbound docks and extensive parking with 293 car and van parking bays.
